Artist Statement
My art is a form of storytelling shaped by relationships, religion, and fictional literature. In my paintings, illustrations, and sculptures, I reference these influences and combine them with memories and imagination.
Every compelling story has a protagonist in relationship to other characters. My portraits formally center the figure as the main character. These works depict stories through moments of care, closeness, and vulnerability. Paintings like Dawson and Held, communicate tales about protection and affection. At times, I pull directly from my faith, creating works like Genesis that reimagine spiritual parables, leaving interpretation up to the viewer. Other works such as The Lake are referenced or influenced by the detailed imagery found in narratives.
By sharing my perspective, I aim to create space for connection, reflection, and dialogue. My work encourages viewers to use imagination to question, reinterpret, and see the world in new ways.
